This course is hosted by Kalani Das, percussionist, educator, and music therapist. with more than 35 years of professional experience, Kalani makes it fun and easy to learn about the many forms and applications of Therapeutic Drumming. Participants will be treated to presentations by experts in the field, each offering a different perspective, useful ideas, and musical inspiration. See below and click the names to find out more.

Participants will:

  • identify approaches for individual, partner, and group interventions.
  • lead musical experiences designed to promote relaxation and stress reduction.
  • learn a variety of world drumming techniques and rhythms from various cultures.
  • experience various types of Therapeutic Drumming.
  • integrate movement with music.
  • explore designing and facilitating Therapeutic Drumming experiences.
  • learn about the latest research into the therapeutic effects of music.
  • identify considerations for various populations (at-risk teens, elderly, addiction, etc)
  • learn about popular platforms of Therapeutic Drumming, i.e., HealthRhythms, Beat The Odds, DRUMBEAT, TaKeTiNa, ProRhythms, and more.
